What to expect in the music industry in 2023?

The COVID-19 epidemic has had a significant impact on the global music business; live performances and concerts have been canceled or postponed, and many musicians and other industry workers are struggling financially. The usage of streaming services, virtual and online concerts, and other online platforms has expanded as the business has adjusted to the new reality.

Music trends or styles and genres of music that are currently in vogue may vary by region and can change over time. Some of the music trends that have been popular in recent years include the following and we may continue to expect in the music industry in 2023:

Streaming

The rise of streaming services such as Spotify, Apple Music, and Tidal has changed the way people consume music. Streaming has become the dominant way people listen to music, and it has had a major impact on the music industry, allowing for more direct connections between artists and fans, and making it easier for independent artists to reach a larger audience.

Both the number of users and revenue in the music streaming industry have grown in 2021. Independent musicians, who can advertise and sell their music through digital platforms without a traditional record company, are likewise becoming more and more prevalent in the music industry. However, the business continues to face difficulties like the persistent problem of copyright infringement and the insufficient payment of artists and songwriters.

Hip-Hop and R&B

Hip-Hop and R&B have been some of the most popular genres in recent years, with many successful artists and hit songs in these genres.

In 2023, we may expecting music from Kendrick Lamar, Nicki Minaj, Cardi B, Lil Nas X, Future, Lil Baby, Lil Uzi Vert, A Boogie wit Da Hoodie, Polo G, Megan Thee Stallion, Roddy Ricch and new acts on the rise. Check out upcoming albums here.

Pop (P-Pop on the Rise)

Pop music is a genre that encompasses many different styles and can include elements of rock, R&B, hip-hop, and electronic music. Pop music is known for its catchy hooks and upbeat tempo, and it continues to be popular across many different cultures and countries.

Lizzo, Doja Cat, Harry Styles, The Weeknd, Dua Lipa, may release new tracks that will fill the airwaves.

While K-Pop still dominates the charts globally, it is undeniable that P-Pop is beginning to make waves. P-pop, short for Philippine pop music, is a genre of popular music that originated in the Philippines. It is a fusion of Western and Filipino influences, including elements of pop, rock, R&B, and hip-hop, as well as traditional Filipino music such as OPM (Original Pilipino Music). P-pop has been gaining popularity in recent years, both in the Philippines and internationally. The rise of social media and streaming platforms have made it easier for Filipino artists to promote and distribute their music, and the increasing popularity of K-pop and other Asian music genres has helped to open the door for P-pop to reach a wider audience. Additionally, the Philippines has a strong music industry and a rich tradition of songwriting and music production, which has contributed to the growth of P-pop.

The P-Pop Kings, a Filipino boy band known as SB19, just conquered New York City. SB19 immediately traveled to New York City for the opening leg of their WYAT [Where You At] USA Tour following a successful sold-out performance at the Smart Araneta Coliseum and a multi-city tour of the Philippines.
